CİHAN ÜNAL (FOUNDER)

Born in Istanbul in 1986, Cihan Ünal took his first step into the aquarium sector in 2006 by installing glass marine aquariums. Throughout this period, he gained significant industry experience by playing an active role in dozens of distinct and unique aquarium projects. Furthermore, he expanded his expertise by taking part in the maintenance processes of Turkey's first shark aquarium. To reinforce his field experience with academic knowledge, he chose to study Aquaculture Engineering; during his education, he also began working as an aquarist at Turkuazoo, Turkey's first public aquarium. Following his graduation, he served as an Aquarist and Senior Aquarist for approximately 5 years at Sea Life Istanbul (the continuation of Turkuazoo), deepening his skills in operations, livestock care, and system management. Continuing his career as a Senior Aquarist at Okyanus Aquarium, Ünal took part in many major aquarium projects during this time. He was involved in the Tuzla ViaSea Aquarium project right from its construction phase and served as Deputy Curator during its opening process. Following this, he served as Deputy Curator for the Emaar Aquarium and Underwater Zoo project realized by Emaar Turkey, playing an active role in its installation and opening phases. Moving forward in his professional career as the Assistant Project Manager at ADEC Aquarium—established under Okyanus Aquarium—Ünal later rose to the positions of Board Member and Director of Projects. He led numerous national and international projects in these roles for approximately 9 years. Today, he provides professional services in aquarium consultancy, leveraging his technical knowledge, field experience, and project management expertise.
